5th Annual “Honorine St. Jude Golf Classic”
Fairfield County’s Premier Charity Golf Tournament Benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
The 5th annual Honorine St. Jude Golf Classic will be held at the picturesque Silvermine Golf Club in Norwalk, Connecticut on July 24, 2017. The event will provide a full day on the greens and an inspirational experience at the tournament awards dinner, including live entertainment, celebrity guests, a silent auction, and much more.
The Honorine St. Jude Golf Classic was established in 2009 by Scott Gance of Wilton, in memory of his parents, Anthony and Marcelle (“Honorine”) Gance, who generously supported St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for many years. The tournament carries on this tradition by creating a premium charity golf tournament with all net proceeds sent to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, one of the world’s premier centers for the research and treatment of childhood cancer and other deadly diseases. Expected to generate $100,000, all net proceeds directly benefit the Hospital’s life-saving mission.
“Families never pay St. Jude for the care their child receives and, for every child treated here, thousands more have been saved worldwide through St. Jude research discoveries,” said Jennifer Maffeo, former Sr. Specialist of Regional Events at ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “Thanks to the fundraising efforts of events like the ‘Honorine St. Jude Golf Classic,’ St. Jude is able to remain true to these principles, and consistently support children who are facing a life-threatening diagnosis.”
The format is a Four-Person Scramble, and awards will be given for the Longest Drive, Closest-to-the-Pin, Hole-in-One, and more. Players will enjoy a barbecue lunch, practice and analysis on the driving range with a golf pro from The Golf Performance Center, a chance on the putting green, the opportunity to win a car, the Hole-In-One prize (last tournament’s prize was an Audi A5 Cabriolet sponsored by Danbury Audi), cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres, a gourmet awards dinner on the clubhouse patio, live musical entertainment, and the chance to win numerous awards, door prizes and silent auction items. The foursome with the top score will bring home the coveted Honorine St. Jude Golf Classic Championship trophy, each player will receive The Honorine Championship Jacket, and the team will win an automatic entry to next year’s Classic.
Registration and the barbecue lunch begin at 11:00 a.m., with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. (rain or shine). Hors d’oeuvres precede the golf outing, which is followed by the Awards Banquet. With a history of selling out and spectacular prizes, advance reservations are recommended.
Hilton Garden Inn is the tournament’s Hotel Sponsor, generously providing conference rooms and discounting accommodations for St. Jude personnel and families, players and celebrity guests. Last tournament’s major sponsors and significant donors included Audi of Danbury, The Boston Bruins, The Golf Performance Center, HEI Hotels & Resorts, Heineken USA, International Soccer & Rugby, JD Events, Splash Car Wash, The New England Patriots, The Partners Commercial Real Estate Services, Inc., River Design, Bearingstar Insurance and Traveler’s Insurance. Key sponsorship slots are available for this year’s Tournament, all of which serve as exceptional platforms to showcase the local businesses and brands that support this important mission. Sponsorship packages provide the opportunity to hit the links with clients and associates and network with some of the area’s senior level executives, while supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
